If we could have only one rugosa rose, this would be it. For some reason, I prefer the German name, Rotes Meer, but whatever you call it, it is a superb rose. A smaller rugosa that fits well into many gardens and landscapes, Purple Pavement has semi-double, crimson purple blooms that are borne in clusters of 3 - 9 with a rich scent.
